I know that much. The business of wedding photography is ludicrous. It PAYS, if you know how to sell it.

But thats the problem I see, its about marketing at that point.

Portrature, commercial, product, archetechure, landscape. Wedding.

It's all about how to sell your wares.

Which is why im damn sure I won't do those. I might dabble in them, which is fine. I shoot those genres because its fun to think outside of your norm. But im not whoring myself. Those industries are saturated. Theres enough "pretty photos".

To be honest I think most people dont care as well.

Where does this leave me?

My heart is on doing journalism and editorial work. I have a need to show people what I see. The way I see it even.

Id love to work for Getty, or Reuters. My local newspapers even if theyd hire.

I like the feeling that someone might look at one of my photos and say "ive never noticed that before".

Or that it might change someones mind.

Make them laugh, make them cry.

Make them think. Wonder.

And all within the context of our daily simple lives.

Not like the contrived world of studio photography. Or in the grand vision of landscape photographers minds. Or the personal limited context of a wedding. (Why is there no such thing as divorce photography, isnt that an important event too? Depending on who you talk to...)

Sometimes i feel like our own lives pass us by and we never remember those simple moments that make up each day.

Isnt that what the documentary genre is about? Showing something to other people that they cant witness with their own eyes.

Id like to think so.
